Caged Pulse Jets

CHRISTINA SPORRONG

Caged Pulse Jets is an interactive, kinetic sound sculpture. The caged birds are five spinning pulse jet engines of various sizes that create a range of percussive and droning tones.

Through a completely interactive console interface, the public can create sound compositions by controlling the amount of fuel and spark going to each individual pulse jet. The console aesthetic was inspired by Jules Verne style whimsical mechanics, with funky gears and old world switches adding to the playfulness of the sculpture.
