Totem to the Lost

CHRISTINA SPORRONG

Totem to the Lost is a 16-foot tall fire sculpture depicting various critically endangered species in todays world. The audience is invited to stand around the fire fountain, where the water is aflame and with a push of a button they can actuate fire cannons overhead.

The endangered animals are made of steel and cast aluminum. The totem incorporates the Black Horned Rhino, Leatherback Sea Turtles, the Ibis, Pangolins, Frogs, and Bees, as well as hints to modern technologies that have been devastating the planet such as “fracking”. I hope to spark a conversation around extinction and the delicate symbiotic relationships between humans, animals and earth.

Totem to the Lost is available for  installation.

A civilization which destroys what little remains of the wild, the space, the original, is cutting itself off from its origins and betraying the principle of civilization itself. – Edward  Abbey

We are all connected

We are all animals

We all call Earth home
